In a charming small town, Julia and her family (including a weird guy in a cat suit) run a traditional gingerbread shop. Just before Christmas they are visited by her auntie, Plenteousa, who has an evil plan to demolish their house. To stop her, they need a large sum of money, and they need it fast. Julia's father decides to bake gingerbread in “I’ve Got a Christmas Talent” show. However, Julia dreams of being a singer and performing solo. She is torn between making her dream come true and helping her family. At one point, everything falls into pieces, but eventually the characters realize what being a family is all about.
Our story is a classic Christmas tale mixed with aesthetics of modern talent shows. But we don’t want to give you images you’re used to seeing on TV. We want to stylize it, give it a visual feel like it was a talent show made up by Wes Anderson.
From the start, we want this movie to be an international co-production, possibly in English. We have the fifth draft of the script ready, we are collecting development funds and searching for a composer. The Gingers is a universal story, so we want to work with someone who will be able to touch international audiences. We want our musical style to be based on classic Disney symphonic music but also to flirt with modern pop music.
Right now we need to cover the costs of development. Once all the songs and a test scene are produced we’re sure everyone will feel the magic of our story and we will quickly close the budget.
